Last week we got your creative juices flowing with tips on how to create #amazeballs Instagram images and captions. Now it's time to debut your hard work to the world by running your very own Instagram ad.
If you've been deterred from social media advertising before by Facebook's less-than-user-friendly ads interface, don't fret! Instagram has made running an ad from the palm of your hand easy-peasy. So settle in, pull out your phone, and get ready to make Instagram magic. We're going to start this week with Instagram Promotions.
Easy as 1, 2, 3
Before you run your first promoted Instagram post, make sure your account is a Business account. You will also be asked to tie your Instagram profile to your Facebook account, and you should be an admin of that Facebook page, too.
And, if you're not sure if your content is totes approps for Facebook or Instagram, brush up on the Advertising Policies here—especially if you'll be talking about politics.
Open the Instagram app on your smart device, and click your profile picture in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
Choose a post you would like to promote and click it to open. Tap the blue "Promote" button, and allow the app to connect to your Facebook account.
Choose a goal (including such options as profile visits, website traffic, promotion views), your ideal target audience (you can choose to target lookalikes of your followers, or segment by region, interests, etc.), and your budget. You also set the length of time your ad will run here. Then, click the "Create Promotion" button.
That's literally it. In a blink of an eye, you have posted your very first Instagram ad! Go on with your bad self.
